powerpoints and pigeons

Powerpoint is one of my most favorite places to create my classroom letters and worksheets!

It's super easy to just copy/paste, create text boxes, and everything is separate so you can manipulate your images/text without any headache (or learning of those new confangled programs).  I had never been able to figure out how to share a powerpoint document before, but with googledocs I think it might work!

I am sharing my writing/drawing prompt I created for an author study on Mo Willems.  I absolutely LOVE all the stories written by Mo Willems and so do the students!  This sheet was a great way to get students to use writing and drawing with meaning after reading several "Pigeon" stories.

Learning to share documents---WHOA!

So I am totally learning how to use GoogleDocs to share documents that either I have made or others have created and shared with the internet world for FREE!  I always love FREE above all others.

I will pinky promise to always ALWAYS give credit where credit is due.  If I don't make it, I will say it, but I will share how I USE it so that if you haven't seen it before you have the chance to use it, too!

So...here goes!  An awesome teacher named Stephanie Ann from Sparkling Kindergarteners has created this really neat Alphabet "MiniBook" for tracing capitol letters.  It is really nice because when cut, it is small, there are good pictures to go along with each letter and it has multiple uses!  Stephanie Ann suggests using it DAILY to practice the letter formations and letter identification as part of your students morning routine!

I am going to suggest for PreK to place these in a Writing Center! Print and laminate the cards and use with dry erase markers or dry erase crayons (if you still haven't mastered the safe use of markers yet!) so the kiddos can begin practicing letter formation/identification.

New adventures

With any new adventure comes change

I am going to begin a new adventure in preschool life as well as my blogging life.  I want to be able to share the projects, ideas, and feel goods that I receive every day by being a teacher. I have been a blogger for some time to help me confess my food struggles, but sometimes I never know quite what to say.  When it comes to my teaching though...I always have PLENTY to say and hopefully to share, too. I may even try my hand at learning google.docs so I can maybe join teachers pay teachers (because let's face it; we need all the help we can get!).


I hope to get the kids included in the blog by giving me ideas or even voting on which projects should be mentioned. 

There is just something about being a teacher that gives me such a sense of pride.  When you meet someone for the first time and they ask, "What do you do?" I get a little excited about answering the question!  I feel like teaching is becoming one of those professions that people think is easy-peasy.

Well hopefully through our hard work in the classroom, we can set the record straight.  Learning is hard, messy work.  I hope that I can share things that are worth sharing and help anyone I can...even if it's just a funny picture for the day.

Because if you can't laugh as a teacher...you won't last as a teacher.

Basically, when I set my mind to something...
